There was a feeling of being connected by different generations

─ There was a very friendly mood between the three people when the photoshoot from a moment ago happened.

Sawano: I met them during the music recording, music video shooting, and I think it’s the third time meeting today? Well, It’s because they have a good personality.

🌺🌱: no no, not at all! (laughs)

─ What kind of impression did Sawano-san have on JO1 before this collaboration was decided?

Sawano: I’ve seen them on tv many times before, but since they’re from a boy group I got the impression that they were going to be aggressive in their dancing and singing.

🌱: Wow…I’m so happy. I really like [ Attack on Titan ] and other animes that Sawano-san has worked on. When I heard the news for the first time (talking about the collaboration) I felt really happy that we could enter this world and put our voice/singing into it.

🌺: The anime songs that Sawano-san was in charge of had a strong impression of a dark fantasy genre, so I thought that he was a scary person at first. But that isn’t the case at all, he’s very kind and easy to talk to

🌱: Me too, I also thought that if i missed a single note even once, I would get scolded at (laughs). That’s why I was really relieved to have met you [in person].

Sawano: hahaha! I was wondering what kind of people they were, but when I met them, they talked to me very kindly. I love CHAGE and ASKA, when we were shooting for the music video Kono-san happened to hum CHAGE and ASKA ‘s [ LOVE SONG ]. I asked, “ Do you know that song?! “ in surprise. I might be the older one, but I was very happy to have the feeling of being connected even if we’re from different generations. It was awkward at first, but when it comes to performance, their look changed again. "I think this is what captivates women, " I said. (Laughs)

🌱: (Laughs). I’m really happy…Sawano-san is really kind.

It is expanding the world of music

─ It seems that it was the proposal of the producer of "Fanfare of Adolescence" that the two of you were the guest vocalists this time.

Sawano: That’s right. I was supposed to do the ending song since I was also in charge of the background music, but since it was decided that JO1 was going to do the opening, I suggested that JO1 should also participate in the ending song as well.

─ SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]’s songs has been sung by many various guest vocals such as Aimer-san, LISA-san, Takanori Nishikawa-san, Porno Grafitti’s Okano Akihito-san, Okazaki Taiiku-san, and MAN WITH A MISSION’s Jean-Ken Johnny-san. However it is very rare for a boy group’s members to participate.

Sawano: That’s right, it’s the first time. I think it wouldn’t have been possible without the flow of me being in charge of the background music and JO1 being in charge of the opening theme, so I think we really had a very good opportunity. Of course, I have worked with young people in their 20s before, but I was still really looking forward to it.
